It would appear that Platinum Games, the publisher set to release VANQUISH in Winter 2010 for the PS3 and Xbox 360 might also be developing a PC version of the game simultaneously. We’ve noticed that the size of the original screenshots that were uploaded into their flicker stream sport the PC centric 2560 x 1440 resolution. Of course, this can all just be wild speculation and it doesn’t confirm in one way or another that the game is not being developed with a higher than 1080P resolution and will be scaled back for the sake of visual fidelity, but it’s peculiar that such high resolution shots would be made available when the only announced platforms are the PS3 and Xbox 360, both of which can only display a mass resolution of 1080p (1920 x 1080).

Vanquish is looking good, though. The fact that it’s directed by Shinji Mikami, the creator of Resident Evil, and the short blips about the story from SEGA Europe’s blog post all have us excited to play the sci-fi shooter for whichever platform the game will eventually release on.
